How I Write a Dragon Romance Series Without Burning Out

When people find out how often I publish, the reaction is almost always the same: some version of "how, and are you okay?" The honest answer is that I am okay, because the volume has nothing to do with grinding myself into dust and everything to do with refusing to start from scratch.

Here is the thing no one tells you when you start writing seriously. The writing is rarely the bottleneck. The bottleneck is the blank space before the writing: the empty document, the half-formed idea, the character you cannot quite see yet, the outline you keep rearranging, the blurb you rewrite forty times and still hate. That is where weeks disappear. So that is where I built my system.

Every book I publish moves through the same four stations. Story development, where a prompt helps me pressure-test the premise before I fall in love with a bad one. Chapter outlining, where I turn a vague shape into a scene-by-scene map in an afternoon instead of a fortnight. A character bible, which a prompt builds and maintains for me so that a five-book cast stays perfectly consistent without me keeping a spreadsheet I will inevitably forget to update. And the blurb, the little paragraph that actually sells the book, which I used to dread and now generate a strong first draft of in minutes.

None of this replaces the part that is mine, the voice, the ache, the choices that make a story feel like it cost something. It clears the runway so I can spend my energy there instead of on the logistics. That is the whole trick. Protect your creative energy by systematizing everything that is not the creative part.

I pulled the 15 prompts I actually use, the real ones, the ones behind the books you have read, into a free PDF called the 30-Day Publishing Starter Kit. If the blank page has ever beaten you, or if you have a story in you and no system to get it out, start there. It is free, and it is the same scaffolding I use for every book.
